Jonny Sheely

Jonny Sheely is the founder of Sheely Consulting.

He spent the first two decades of his career inside financial systems — the tools and processes organizations rely on to know their own numbers. Fixed assets at Foot Locker and 24 Hour Fitness, international payroll and internal audit at Qualcomm, royalty and customer reporting at GoDigital. Along the way he led the finance side of three NetSuite implementations, championed a Cognos TM1 rollout, designed SOX controls, and automated away 30 to 40 manual journal entries a year. The through-line was always the same: find where the numbers break, and fix the process that broke them.

At Qualcomm he tested SOX controls from FY09 through FY12 — including international wire approvals above $150,000 — and wrote the tester training guide, quick reference guide and workpaper template the rest of the finance testers worked from. In Internal Audit he ran the QCT pricing management system audit end to end, from planning and scoping through fieldwork to the final report, and built the FY14 risk assessment covering operating expense, consulting spend, treasury insurance and purchase-order approvals across three subsidiaries. At Manatt he built the firm's lobbying compliance reporting — registration and renewal procedures for County of Los Angeles and the MTA, filings tracked across ten offices, and a three-phase restatement of the Los Angeles filings.

In 2018 that work turned toward litigation. At Manatt, Phelps & Phillips he ran financial, accounting, and valuation analyses in legal disputes for more than 450 attorneys across ten offices, analyzing millions of time records in class action and single-plaintiff labor cases. At Ballard, Rosenberg, Golper & Savitt he served as Principal Data Analyst and Wage Hour Case Manager, working 113 matters across 70 employer clients for 17 attorneys. Sheely Consulting — founded in 2006 as Shamrock Consulting and renamed in 2018 — has carried wage-and-hour work independently since 2020, for a national labor and employment firm, for employment-defense and complex-litigation boutiques, and directly for employers.

Across all of it: 137+ California wage-and-hour matters analyzed, a majority of those captioned as Class Action and/or PAGA.
